Cardiff Facts

The Romans founded Cardiff in 55AD, building a fort on the site of Cardiff Castle. Cardiff was granted its Charter of Incorporation by James 1st in 1616 and became a city in 1905. Cardiff was crowned the capital of Wales in 1955.

2. Cardiff City

Cardiff City are still the only non-English club to win the FA Cup, beating Arsenal 1-0 in the 1927 final at Wembley. In fact, the trophy was generally known as the English Cup until the Bluebirds' famous victory.
